Sitting Down with Martina Navratilova, Carolina Ascent Co-Owner

Soccer Sheet sat down with the tennis legend last year to talk about her groundbreaking tennis career and her investment in the Carolina Ascent. She’ll be back in town for a match on Sep. 26.

Y’all Weekly’s Soccer Sheet sat down with none other than Carolina Ascent co-owner and tennis legend Martina Navratilova last year for an exclusive interview we haven’t published … until now.

In town for an event touting the partnership between Charlotte’s professional women’s soccer team and the non-profit Dress for Success, Navratilova shared how she came into sports ownership and what she’s bringing to the table as a former tennis superstar and prominent social activist.

She also tells us about driving around Charlotte as a teenager in the 70s, how soccer was the first sport she played (as well as the cause of her first sports injury), and even gives us a glimpse into her rivalry and friendship with the great Chrissy Evert.

Earlier today, Navratilova announced will be in Charlotte on September 26 to support the Ascent at their match against Sporting JAX.
