Charlotte FC Fires Head Coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez, Major Departures Announced
Another confusing front office decision by Tepper Sports Entertainment
On Tuesday Morning, Charlotte FC announced head coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez has been let go.
“This is a difficult decision, but one we feel is best for the team at this time,” said Owner David Tepper. “I want to thank Miguel and his staff for their hard work during our first season and wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
Sporting Director Zoran Krneta and President Joe LaBue delivered the pink slip to Ramírez. Assistant Coach Christian Lattanzio will take over and Goalkeeper Coach Andy Quy will remain, but Charlotte FC announced some big departures who will follow Charlotte FC’s coach out the door: Assistant Coach Mikel Antía, Head Fitness Coach Cristobal Fuentes Nieto, and First Team Video Analyst Luis Piedrahita.
Charlotte FC is still within striking distance of the playoffs, making this a confusing decision during the international break. Charlotte FC has certainly exceeded expectations this year, making the mid-year decision even more confusing.

This has nothing to do with results. Clearly MAR was clashing with the front office regarding player acquisitions. You can’t win with a midfield that’s constantly getting overrun like this, and MAR was vocal about that. In the end, he loses out. Not a good look for this franchise, who’s already lost Nick Kelly over similar concerns with the direction the club is taking.
very puzzling indeed
