Charlotte's Soccer Community Rallies for Hurricane Helene Survivors
Your next opportunity to show your support is today at HopFly
Today from 4 PM to 7 PM at HopFly Brewing Company, Luke Beadle of the Queen City Soccer Show and the queens of the Queens Pitch Podcast will be collecting donations for Hurricane Helene relief prior to Charlotte FC’s final home match of the season.
They’re the latest members of the North Carolina soccer community to support recovery efforts. Last week, the David & Nicole Tepper Foundation pledged $3 million for relief efforts.
“The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation, Carolina Panthers, and Charlotte FC stand alongside all those who have been affected by Hurricane Helene and the devastation it has wrought across the southeast, and particularly in our backyard throughout the Carolinas,” said the Teppers in a statement.
Additionally, at last night’s Charlotte Independence match at American Legion Memorial Stadium, members of the Mecklenburg Reserves, Blue Furia, and the Independence Ultras supporters groups joined the Independence in collecting donations for the relief effort.
We’ll have more updates - including a story on the state of soccer in Asheville - in the coming weeks. For now, stay safe, and please consider supporting relief efforts to help Western North Carolina recover.
