First Half: Dimick Joins the 200 Club
In a major milestone moment, Charlotte Independence captain Clay Dimick, 31, made his 200th appearance for the club last night as the Jacks defeated Portland Hearts of Pine 3-2 in USL League One play.
At 200 club appearances, Dimick is second only to former Liberian international Joel Johnson Alajarín, who made 220 appearances for the Independence across all competitions.
Earlier this week, Soccer Sheet spoke with Dimick about the milestone:
“Being the captain of the club is a huge honor that I hope I never take for granted,” said Dimick. “Now playing my 200th game on Wednesday, I don’t take a minute for granted. It makes me want to win even more.”

Fifth place Charlotte FC (10-7-5, 35 Points) won the I-85 Derby on Saturday with a 0-2 win over Atlanta United (6-13-3, 21 Points).
On Saturday, September 5 at 7:30 PM, the Crown host the second place team in the West, Houston Dynamo FC (12-7-3, 39 Points).

The sixth place NC Courage (11-8-3, 33 Points) fell 3-2 on the road to KC Current (10-8-4, 34 Points).
NC Courage star Ashley Sanchez didn’t need to add any goals to her current season total of 15 to keep the lead in the NWSL’s Golden Boot race. Barbara Banda of the Orlando Pride is second with 13 goals, and the Courage have a game in hand over the Pride.
Sanchez finished the month with five goals, including two braces against Boston and Angel City.
Evelyn Ijeh scored her third goal for the Courage in August, putting her in 3rd place in the Golden Boot race with 11 total goals on the season.
Carolina Ascent FC (2-1-0, 6 Points) lost their first match of the short season to Tampa Bay Sun FC (1-1-1, 3 Points).
The Ascent have another chance at home this weekend against Fort Lauderdale United FC.
The first place Charlotte Independence (15-4-4, 49 Points) travel to Omaha this weekend for a massive match against the second place Union Omaha (14-6-4, 46 Points), their main rivals for the USL League One Players’ Shield.
