A Charlotte Soccer Team Won a Trophy Last Night
Congratulations to the UNC Charlotte Men’s Soccer team on winning the American Athletic Conference Championship and qualifying NCAA Men's Soccer Championships. The Niners will learn their opponent later today when the bracket gets unveiled at 1 PM EST.
The Niners beat No. 2 ranked SMU, 1-2 in Dallas, TX to claim the conference title, the third in program history.
"I am really proud of these guys," said Charlotte Head Coach Kevin Langan. "Obviously, SMU, a great team, pushed back, but we played very well today."
Brandon Morales scored the winner for Charlotte (12-3-1) in the 55th minute. Charlotte defender Ian Pilcher scored the first goal of the match in the 22nd minute.
"It took a lot of spirit, grit," said Morales. "It took dedication. We've been on a journey these past 13 weeks."
